Susana does not know that I have written this story about her, but I wanted to take a moment of your time to recognize this amazing person.
Susana is the Director of Education and Training here at the RentSmart BC office. She is the longest standing RentSmart team member, and she is not even the oldest among us. 😊 She has worked very hard to revamp and update our wonderful curriculum, participant manuals and educator manuals. She co-ordinates, develops and delivers a lot of our trainings across the country. She and our Executive Director, Linda Amy, are currently working with Nunavut to set up a RentSmart program that will be relevant to this Northern Territory. While doing this she also continues to do Educator Trainings in BC and RentSmart Certificate and Basic courses as well! Now that is a full plate!
However, I am not speaking to Susana’s accomplishments today; as they are far reaching and too many to mention. Today I want to speak about Susana the RentSmart Educator.
For those of you who have worked with Susana, you will know that she is the essence of cultural and human sensitivity. She is non-judgmental and truly cares about educators and the clients we all serve. She has a huge heart and she has a clear vision of RentSmart and how our programs help people who are marginalized, vulnerable, homeless or at risk of homelessness. She believes we, as RentSmart Educators, are not only building skills for successful tenancies, but also building empathy, communication and community to help people have strong housing stability.
